BIOGRAPHY
Bartosz Thiede is a Polish-Irish lyric tenor whose work combines a warm, golden sound with musical intelligence and an instinctive theatrical presence. He recently made his role debut as Ferrando in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with Barefoot Opera, appearing at Battle Festival and at the Arcola Theatre as part of the 2026 Grimeborn Festival, and continuing with the company’s touring production. His performance attracted particularly strong critical attention: LondonTheatre1 praised his “beautiful golden tenor voice”, describing it as especially suited to Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti, while The Reviews Hub found his transformation from playful Ferrando to heartbroken lover “particularly touching.” Recent stage engagements also include Conor in A Goth Opera, a new work bringing together classical and goth influences, and Septimius in Handel’s Theodora at the Holywell Music Room, conducted by Christopher Bucknall. A Goth Opera received its first staged work-in-progress presentation at Greenwich Theatre in August 2026. Bartosz studied Music at Exeter College, University of Oxford, where he held the Parry-Wood Organ Scholarship and received the Quarrell Read Prize. He has studied singing with Nigel McClintock, Giles Underwood and Jenny Miller. Alongside his work within Oxford’s collegiate choral tradition, he performed with Oxford University Opera Society in La bohème, Il barbiere di Siviglia and Madama Butterfly. He is currently undertaking postgraduate research in historical musicology. On the concert platform, Bartosz is regularly engaged as Evangelist and tenor soloist in Bach’s Passions, Handel’s Messiah and other major works of the oratorio repertoire, alongside recital and ensemble work. He has performed across the UK and internationally and can be heard on recordings with Oxford college choirs and professional ensembles. His repertoire centres on Mozart, Handel and lyric tenor roles, underpinned by extensive experience in oratorio, choral music, ensemble singing and theatrical performance.
