Bart Thiede (BBC, RTÉ) is a Polish-Irish award-winning
composer, musical director, choral conductor, tenor, and
organist based in Oxford. Working across the UK and internationally, he is equally at home in a theatre pit, a cathedral loft, or a recording studio. Bart’s credits span theatre, pantomime, children’s theatre, radio, podcasting, cabaret, concert work, and film. A graduate of the University of Oxford (Exeter College) and current postgraduate researcher, Bart’s work blends classical rigour with contemporary folk influences. He is the creator of Have You Met Stan?, an original musical that opened in London at the King’s Head Theatre following acclaimed runs at Brighton Fringe and Oxford’s OFFBEAT Festival. As well as regular appearances on television and radio, his music and direction have featured in venues including St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. His commercial recordings include Mater Mundi (Chorum) and On Christmas Night (OxRecs), alongside original soundtracks for podcasts and short films. As an artistic director, he has produced large-scale concert series and festivals. Bart has also led music programmes in schools, cathedrals, and festivals, with a focus on accessible, cross-genre performance. He is a passionate educator and vocal coach. Bart is currently working on his debut solo album, between adventures with his border collie, Oscar.
about me
PERFORMER. As a choral conductor,
musical director, and classically trained tenor I am passionate
about storytelling through music.

My commercial discography includes Mater Mundi (Chorum),
On Christmas Night (OxRecs), and the original cast recording
of Have You Met Stan? Praised for my “perfectly-nuanced virtuosity” (MusicWeb International), and descibed as “quietly powerful” (Broadway
World UK), with “magnificent” and subtle accompaniments
(MusicWeb International), I possess “an enviable grasp of
choral development and conducting” (Organist Review). As an organist and conductor, I have performed in some of
the UK’s most prestigious venues, including St Paul’s Cathedral,
Westminster Abbey, and the Tower of London. Previously
Director of Music at Kilkenny College, Rye St Antony, and
St Canice’s Cathedral, I am a seasoned educator and
vocal coach. I served as Artistic Director and Producer
for Music in Kilkenny and the Passio Festival, collaborating
with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Oxford Bach Soloists, and
organist Thomas Ospital. I also founded Bier-roque,
a trad-inspired early music series staged in local pubs. Recent projects include: directing various Bach cantatas
from the harpsichord around the UK, improvising to a screening
of the 1925 Phantom of the Opera, performing Peter and the
Wolf for schools across Ireland, solo organ and vocal recitals,
and international tours with the Exonian Choir, Exeter College
Choir, and the choir of St John’s Lutheran Church, Stamford, USA.
I can often be found deputising as an organist or tenor around
Oxford’s chapels, usually Exeter College or the University Church.

positioned to recruit highly qualified specialist tutors in a wide range
of subjects, particularly in STEM fields.

Whether families require full-time, part-time, or short-term support
during critical exam periods, I can help identify and connect them
with the right expert to meet their unique needs.

I have a proven track record of matching families with tutors they
can trust; not just for their expertise, but for delivering real,
measurable results.

My personalised approach ensures each student receives tailored
tuition from trusted professionals who understand the pressures
of elite academic environments, providing effective support
exactly when it’s needed most.

ABOUT ME. I’m a private tutor, vocal coach,
and music educator with a strong academic background and nearly a
decade of experience working with students in some of the UK and
Ireland’s leading schools as well as internationally. I was educated at Clifton College and went on to study Music at
the University of Oxford (Exeter College), where I held the
Parry-Wood Organ Scholarship and received multiple academic
and performance awards.

I’ve trained in conducting with Paul Spicer, and I specialise in
vocal pedagogy, having coached singers across a range of ages
and genres; from early training to conservatoire and
professional level. I’ve served as Director of Music at both Rye St Antony School in
Oxford and Kilkenny College, Ireland’s largest co-educational
boarding school. In both roles, I led departments, expanded
extracurricular programmes, and supported students through
Oxbridge and university applications. Currently, I’m undertaking part-time postgraduate research in
historical musicology. I offer private tuition in music, English, history,
philosophy, and university entrance preparation, as well as specialist
vocal and performance coaching. I bring a warm, focused, and
adaptable approach to my teaching and am fully DBS-certified
with extensive safeguarding and pastoral experience.

FOR SCHOOLS. Having served as
Head of Department at leading schools, I have extensive experience
overhauling music curricula and launching whole-school music
initiatives that engage students across all ages and abilities.

This hands-on leadership means I can offer tailored consultancy
services to schools seeking to revitalise or improve their music
departments. From curriculum redesign and programme development
to staff training and extracurricular planning, I work closely with school
leaders to create sustainable, inspiring music education strategies
that raise participation and enhance student outcomes;
all offered at affordable prices suitable for schools of all sizes and budgets. Additionally, I provide dedicated support for schools mounting large
musical theatre productions, including keyboard programming,
track making, and hands-on producing services, ensuring
smooth, professional, and high-quality performances.

MUSIC. I bring over a decade of experience as
a vocal coach, performance mentor, and keyboard player, working
with students from enthusiastic beginners to Oxbridge choral
scholars and conservatoire applicants.

As a skilled accompanist, singer, and musical director for
many prestigious institutions in the UK and abroad, I combine technical
expertise with a deep understanding of vocal health, stage presence,
and musical expression. I am versatile across genres, coaching not only
classical singers but also musical theatre performers and contemporary
artists, adapting my approach to suit each student’s goals. Alongside individual coaching, I design and lead bespoke cultural
programmes and summer camps focused on choral music and
the performing arts. These immersive experiences blend rehearsals,
performance opportunities, and cultural exploration, providing young
people with confidence-building, collaborative, and inspiring
environments. With invaluable connections across the music industry,
I am also well placed to signpost students to further opportunities,
auditions, and specialist training pathways.

With my broad musical background and practical experience, I help
students discover their voice, develop discipline, and thrive creatively.

ACADEMIC. As an academic tutor, I offer
highly flexible one-to-one tuition anywhere in the world, either in person
or online. I specialise in Music, English, Philosophy, History, and
related humanities subjects, working with students of all ages and
abilities; from early years through to university level.

Alongside subject tuition, I provide expert support for UK private
school entry, including preparation for interviews, exams, and personal
statements. I have a strong track record guiding students through
Oxbridge applications, with particular expertise in music admissions
and choral scholarships.

Though my experience as a Head of Music at a number of schools,
I am experienced incrafting bespoke curricula suitable for hybrid or
home schooling, as well as supporting children who are often on the move. For families seeking immersive, enriching experiences, I also plan
and deliver bespoke learning and cultural programmes, tailored to
each student’s interests and goals;from short-term holiday
projects to long-term mentoring.
